อันดับการแข่งขันเทคโนโลยีไอซีที ไทยตกต่ำต่อเนื่อง

การจัดอันดับประเทศที่มีบทบาทต่อวงการเทคโนโลยีไอซีที ซึ่งใช้ดัชนี Networked Readiness Index (NRI) เป็นตัววัด โดย World Economic Forum ตีพิมพ์รายงาน The Global Information Technology Report ประจำปี ตั้งแต่ปี 2007 ถึงปัจจุบัน โดยมีผลปรากฎว่าอันดับประเทศปีล่าสุดเดนมาร์ก ยังคงรักษาแชมป์โดยมีคะแนนเฉือนสวีเดนอย่างฉิวเฉียดเช่นเดียวกับปีที่แล้ว โดยการขึ้นมาครองตำแหน่งจ้าวเทคโนโลยีไอซีที ของประเทศแถบสแกนดิเนเวีย เกิดขึ้นหลังจากปี 2006 สามารถโค่น สหรัฐอเมริกา ลงไปอยู่อันดับที่ 7 ก่อนยักษ์ใหญ่อย่างอเมริกายกเครื่องระบบของตัวเองกลับขึ้นมาอันดับสามในปีนี้

แต่ที่น่าเป็นห่วงคือประเทศไทยของเราที่อันดับรูดต่อเนื่อง จากอันดับที่ 37 ในปี 2006 – 2007 สู่อันดับที่ 40 ในปี 2007 – 2008 และอันดับที่ 47 ในปีนี้ 2008 – 2009

สำหรับประเทศในเอเซียลำดับเป็นดังนี้ สิงคโปร์ อันดับที่ 4 เกาหลีใต้อันดับที่ 11 ฮ่องกง ลำดับที่ 12 ไต้หวันลำดับที่ 13 ญี่ปุ่น ลำดับที่ 17 มาเลเซีย ลำดับที่ 28 การ์ตาร์ ลำดับที่ 29 ซาอุดิอารเบีย ลำดับที่ 40 จีน ลำดับที่ 46
โดย Networked Readiness Index (NRI) มีคำนิยามเป็นดังนี้
The World Economic Forum’s Networked Readiness Index (NRI) measures the propensity for countries to exploit the opportunities offered by information and communications technology. It is published annually. The NRI seeks to better comprehend the impact of ICT on the competitiveness of nations. The NRI is a composite of three components: the environment for ICT offered by a given country or community, the readiness of the community?s key stakeholders (individuals, businesses, and governments) to use ICT, and finally the usage of ICT amongst these stakeholders.
The World Economic Forum together with INSEAD publishes the Global Information Technology Report, which makes use of the index.
The index was originally developed by the Information Technology Group, which worked at Harvard University’s Center for International Development until 2002.
